Donate clothing to Africa?

I saw something interesting on the news on night. All that clothing that goes to Africa puts the home-based clothing makers in villages and towns out of business as well as undermines native dress customs. It made me stop and think that sending a bunch of used American clothing was really destroying the wonderful cultures of the continent. Send money, not our American junk. Sorry I know you mean well, but the truth is sending our stuff there is putting their own people out of work.
