Television shows use the bowling ball on the trampoline ogy to describe how mive objects distort the fabric of space. How much tension does the fabric have? In other words, how large a dimple is formed by the moon? If travelling from the earth to the moon in a spaceship, how far in miles do you travel "uphill" before you get to the "peak", then start travelling "downhill"? And if the dimple of the moon is far away, how then does the moon raise our oceans? This would seem to indicate that the dimple formed by the moon reaches earth.
