Pomeranian's shedding??

I have a 6 year old Pom and he sheds continuously. There are always of fur around the house all year round, though obviously worse in the spring/summer. I have gotten in the habit of having him shaved in the spring to avoid a lot of ticks and to avoid a lot of the hair.
